As a seller on Poshmark it is essential that you’re active on the platform. Not only does this help your visibility, but it may help to increase sales. If you are already a pro then most likely, you knew that, but new Poshers may not be aware of the importance.
One way of being active is through sharing listings. Did you know that self-sharing is the best type of sharing and that there are specific times of day when Poshers see an increase in listing activity?
Let’s delve a little bit into what optimal sharing looks like.

What is sharing?
Sharing an item is simply clicking the double arrow sign in the at the top or bottom of a listing
What exactly does sharing do?
1. Shows that you’re active in the app to buyers
This is great because some buyers will check to make sure your listing is not stale. I’ve purchased a swimsuit from a buyer without checking the last time they shared an item and never got the purchase because they were no longer active on the site.
2. Gives your item exposure to other sellers and buyers
When you share an item it goes into the Poshmark feed. The feed is where Poshers that follow you can view items. From there, they can (hopefully) choose to share it on their feed for their followers to see and you ultimately giving your item a lot more exposure.
3. Moves you to the top of the search results for the specific brand of your item.
When you share one of your own pieces this also increases it’s visibility in the general search feed as it brings that item to the top of the feed. The search feed is automatically set to list just shared items, so unless someone changes the filters your item will always be first if you just share it (or at least somewhere at the top depending on the popularity of the search).
When people search for a brand item, the items at the top are just shared. The longer you go without sharing your item, the further down in the search list it goes.
What are the types of sharing?
Self-Share
Self-sharing is when you share items from your closet to your followers.
Per many Poshers, is the most important type of sharing. This is because it seems to bring more views to your items than any other type of sharing.
Community Shares
This is when someone from the Poshmark community shares your listing (or vice versa). This generates your listing on their feed of followers.
Other Poshers can find your listing on your page, in the feed, in parties or in the search results and share it to their followers.
Why would you share someone else’s item you may ask? Well, for one it gives them exposure to and you’re supporting a fellow Posher and they will likely return the favor and share some of your items in turn.
New Posher/Fresh Closets Shares
This is when you go into the ‘New People’ feed and share listings. It is basically the same as a community share.
Party Shares
There are Posh Parties every day at 9 am, 12 pm, 4 pm & 7 pm. You can share your item or other items to the parties. However, your item will only be shared once so trying to share it multiple times is worthless. Many people try to share early on in parties to get the best views. Social Media Sharing
You can also share to several social media sites and this brings in more traffic to your listings. Definitely use this option as it can obviously help to boost your sales!
Other times your listing is automatically shared
Your listing isn’t only shared when you purposely click the share button, but also when you update an item. When you edit one of your items it automatically goes to the top of your feed and is shared out again.
- When you initially list an item it is automatically shared to the Just in listings
- Any time you update your item
What is the best way to share?
Sharing on the app
This seems to be the most time-consuming way to share as there is a slight lag between shares. Most Poshers will choose a faster method.
Sharing on a computer with a mouse
This is much faster than sharing within the app as there is little lag between sharings. You will want to access the platform from a web browser and not the app.
Sharing on an iPad with a stylus
You will also want to access the platform from a web browser, but this is by far the easiest way out of the three to share a listing.
What are share groups?
Share groups are groups of usually 5-10 Poshers that are assigned closets to share daily. This way you are sure to get your closet shared and they are as well. You can find these on the platform just by searching for them.
There are also plenty of social media groups on multiple platforms that are formed to follow and share the listings of fellow Poshers.
Should I use a VA or Bot?
Many full-time Poshers don’t have the time to share consistently on the platform and will enlist the assistance of a virtual assistant or bot.
While Poshmark has not frowned upon using VA’s, they have stated that bots are not welcome on the platform.
Can I overshare?
Yes and no
No, you most likely won’t overshare your item if doing it by hand. In fact, most serious Poshers share continuously throughout the day.
However, if you are caught using a bot to share, that item may be suspended from being able to be shared from several to 24 hours. In addition, some Poshers have been banned from the platform for the use of bots.

Can I share my entire closet?
No, at this time Poshers can’t share their entire closet with one click. But you can if you go through it and share each item manually. Poshmark has come out and stated that this feature will most likely never exist.
This is most likely to keep things on an even playing field for newer Poshers without much inventory. For example if you have thousands of listings and you share your closet, you will dominate the search results as opposed to someone that has just started and has one or two listings.
When is the best time to share?
Share during peak times during the day and per the Poshmark blog, Posh Parties are the perfect time to share your listings. This is probably because so many Poshers are currently using the blog. The parties a lot Poshers state is the most helpful at gaining followers or sales are the noon and 4 pm parties.
In addition, I advise that you create a sharing schedule for yourself, ideally, you want to self-share at least two to three times during the day
Let me know if you have other questions about sharing on Poshmark!
